BRAUN BROTHERS REUNION
BY KATHLEEN O'KEEFE-BRAUN

In the 1950's while Middle America was tuning in to ridiculously spotless sitcoms like Father Knows Best and Leave It To Beaver, Eustacious "Musty" Braun and wife Becky were raising their five children, two girls and three boys, in the small rural town of Weisner in Southern Idaho. At the time, the town's famed National Old Time Fiddler's Contest was not yet even five years old and Wesner's clubs were enjoying the final throes of legalized gambling in Idaho.

NO JUSTICE - LIVE AT BILLY BOB'S
BY KRYSTAL HALFMANN

Billy Bob’s Texas and the Live at Billy Bob’s CD Series itself has a serious clout and prestige that no one in this industry can deny. It’s well known that being a part of the series can bring an emerging band to new heights and a wider audience. We all know legends like Willie Nelson, David Allen Coe and Merle Haggard have all recorded Live at Billy Bob’s albums. Personally, the first Pat Green CD I ever owned was the Live at Billy Bob’s LP. I’m sure there are thousands of other people who can say the same thing about any of the artists who have been chosen to record a Live at Billy Bob’s album. Those of us from Texas and Oklahoma don’t know how good we have it. We have access to some of the best live music in the world, on a very regular basis. Live at Billy Bob’s helps bring that great music to a national level. Not a bad legacy for a place that started out as an outdoor cattle barn.

THE STRUEDEL CIRCUIT - JIM MORRISON'S GRAVE
BY JIMMY JAM OF RECKLESS KELLY

I would like to correct myself. In my last story, Blood Brothers, I claimed that the Bush/Gore election was in the winter of 1999. My mother, Sue McFeeley, corrected me and pointed out that the election was in 2000. Thanks Mom.

George Devore and the Euro-Roam was in Paris that winter. That's actually Paris France not our beloved Paris, Texas. The election was at a stand still and the people of Europe were watching and mostly laughing. It was the beginning of eight humiliating years on the international political theater. To the people of Paris we were a clown show. Politics aside, we were still rocking out a good show with two of the members of the Dutch band Smalltown Romeos.

DIRTY BIRD STUDIOS - MCCLURE AND LINVILLE JOIN FORCES
BY JOSH CRUTCHMER

They are, for the most part, anonymous. Take away the fine print buried away in CD liner notes, and they operate without recognition as the critical links between great songs and great albums. Unless, of course, an album busts, in which case they are blamed and told their future services won't be needed. Oh, sure, a select few get singled out every year at awards banquets, but more often than not, record producers live in the shadows. Glory goes to the artists. Due credit slips past the producers.

What the hell then, is Mike McClure thinking?

ASK MOTHER HUBBARD
BY JUDY HUBBARD

Q: My husband and I are on the fence about having a second baby. As the mother of one, what advice would you have for me? - Tic Tic Tic Grand Prairie, TX

A: I would say get off the fence and into the bedroom…or wherever floats your boat. If I was a younger gal there would definitely be another little Hubbard running around. Although one is definitely easier & cheaper another one doubles your chances of not ending up in the state run old folks home!

FROM THE TRENCHES
BY ERIC LENINGTON FROM THE DOUG MORELAND SHOW

Howdy Folks! After doing my exhausting research I have found out some interesting, possibly even surprising, things about being in a band. The first is that even if you are in one, it does not necessarily mean that tons of bikini-clad women will chase you down like you are David Lee Roth in the "Yankee Rose" video. Pretty surprising, I know. I took this piece of information hard and briefly entertained the idea of becoming a plumber. I understand plumbers get all the action. I have seen the typical work day of a plumber documented on video numerous times.
